Oscar Pistorius' home in Pretoria, Johannesburg in South Africa - the home in which he shot and killed girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp - has been sold to a mining consultant in Boksburg, South Africa, according to multiple media reports.

You Magazine in South Africa has claimed the exclusive on the sale of the home to Louwtjie Louwrens for R4.5 million, which is the equivalent of about $420,000 in U.S. dollars.

According to You Magazine, Louwrens intends to rent out the property. News24.com reported that Pistorius said during his bail application that the house was worth R5 million.

News24.com added that Pistorius' lawyers announced that the double-amputee Olympic sprinter needed to sell the house to cover his legal expenses for his murder trial.

"It has become necessary to sell Mr. Pistorius' home in the Silver Woods Country Estate in Pretoria in order for him to raise the necessary funds to cover his increasing legal cost," Pistorius' lawyer, Brian Webber said in a statement, according to News24.com.

The report added that Pistorius' house was on the market since 2011 and the original asking price was R6.5 million.

The Guardian reported in May that Pistorius had sold his house but did not list the name of the buyer but said the transfer process had begun.

Since the shooting on Valentine's Day, 2013, Pistorius has been living at his uncle's house in Pretoria, according to The Guardian.

Pistorius is due back in court on Aug. 7, when final arguments will be presented to Judge Thokozile Masipa, who has the responsibility of reaching the verdict.
