Jay Cutler is drawing rave reviews out of Chicago Bears camp and his star wide receiver believes he can take home the league's MVP award this season.
Brandon Marshall spoke to Marc Sessler of NFL.com and said that he wouldn’t be surprised if Cutler took home the NFL MVP and that his work ethic has been the best he has ever seen.
'He's the first one in the building, last one to leave now, his leadership is through the roof,' Marshall said on Wednesday's edition of Inside Training Camp Live. 'He's correcting the coaches. This is his offense. This is his organization, he's running it, and I love it.’
Cutler and Marshall are entering their third season together in Chicago, but also played together for the Denver Broncos for four seasons. An MVP award for Cutler could be a bit of a stretch on Marshall’s part, but a career year is definitely in the cards.
Teddy Bridgewater Set to Start Week One for Vikings?
Cutler is coming into 2014 with a brand new seven-year deal worth $126 million of which $54 million guaranteed a year after getting into a mini quarterback controversy with now Tampa Bay Buccaneers starter Josh McCown. The Bears willingness to move forward with Cutler despite McCown’s success in 2013 shows that the organization and coach Marc Trestman believe Cutler can take Chicago to the Super Bowl.
Trestman is seen as a quarterback guru and his choice of Cutler has to be a big sigh of relief to the city that was minutes away from a playoff appearance in 2013. Will Cutler take home a MVP trophy? Probably not. But it isn't out of the question for him to breakout and establish himself as one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the NFL.
