Cruz Azul Transfer News: Marco Fabian Transfer To Stuttgart Rejected, Negotiations Will Open In 6 Months?

Marco Fabian's ambitions to feature in Europe have taken a hit, with Fox Sports' Ruben Rodriguez reporting (via Twitter) that Cruz Azul have rejected an offer from German outfit VfB Stuttgart. Negotiations will reportedly reopen upon the end of Fabian's loan and return to Chivas Guadalajara in six months.

Before the season, the Mexican international made it known to his head coach, Luis Fernando Tena, that his interest is no longer with the club. Desires to feature on a European side became priority No. 1, something Tena was more than willing to accept. "We have to understand Marco's position of wanting to try his luck in in Europe," he said in a press conference in Mexico City on Wednesday (via Goal). "Now, we have to see if the offer from Stuttgart officially arrives and see what it is."

Having coached Fabian at Mexico's 2012 Olympic run, Tena admitted there were offers for his services even before the London event.

"He told us just then that he's been close to going three times and that he wants to take this [opportunity]," he added. "And he's right [to]."

Unfortunately for Fabian, Cruz Azul's operating board is not in agreement.

The possibility of a transfer has weighed heavily on Fabian. In two appearances with the club this season, the 25-year-old is yet to contribute a goal and has created zero chances. In addition, Fabian has only won 44 percent of his one-on-one duels, with none coming off the dribble.

Should this lack of productivity continue, it's Stuttgart who won't accept an offer in six months.
