The Kevin Love sweepstakes is nearing its end and according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, it is a matter of when and not if he is traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Windhorst reported early Thursday morning that the Chicago Bulls have ended their pursuit of Love and that the Golden State Warriors will not give up Klay Thompson, thus making the Cavaliers the last team standing.

“After ESPN.com reported last week that the Cavaliers remain the front-runners to acquire Love in a trade co-headlined by No. 1 overall draft pick Andrew Wiggins, sources this week have described the Cavs as the only team in contention for Love. Sources say the Chicago Bulls have become increasingly pessimistic about their chances of trumping Cleveland's offer, while the Golden State Warriors remained unwilling to bend on their longstanding refusal to surrender Klay Thompson in a deal for Love.”

The Cavaliers deal is centered around No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins, who can't be traded until after August 23 after he signed his rookie contract with Cleveland. Windhorst goes on to say that the vibe form inside the Cleveland organization is optimistic and they believe they will come away with Love soon after Wiggins regains his trade eligibility.

Will Kevin Durant Return to Washington in 2017?

The Timberwolves have expressed interest in receiving Thaddeus Young from the Philadelphia 76ers to replace Love, but it is unknown of the Cavaliers have reached out to the 76ers.

The Cavaliers are in a win now mode and adding Kevin Love at the expense of Andrew Wiggins’ potential is simply a move they have to make.
