Welsh rugby player Ian Gough has been found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend Sophia Cahill a former glamour model who was crowned Miss Wales in 2000.
According to the police report, the 37-year-old Gough attacked Cahill, 30, as he dropped off their young son outside the home that she shares with former pop star Dane Bowers, to whom she was recently engaged.
The 6-foot-5 inch, 265-lb. Gough was found guilty of the assault after Cahill claimed that he ‘manhandled and shoved’ her when she confronted him about being over an hour late to drop off their son. Cahill said the injuries she sustained were a combination of Gough’s actions and a car accident that she had suffered in the days prior to the incident.
Cahill split from Gough in 2011 while she was pregnant with the couples second child and had been incident free until now. It is on record that the incident, which occurred on January 5, took place soon after Cahill told Gough of her engagement to Bowers.
After the verdict, Bowers tweeted: 'I don't think there is ever a "good" result in situations like this but fingers crossed we can move forward and just concentrate on family!’
