Vince Russo has been given a lot of the blame via the internet for Spike TV not renewing TNA Impact Wrestling when the deal between the promotion and the network expires, and Smith Hart took to Twitter to blame Russo for TNA's failures and for the death of his brother Owen Hart.
Owen tragically passed away on May 23, 1999 when a stunt went horribly wrong at the WWE's Over the Edge pay-per-view. Owen was supposed to propel from the rafters into the ring on a harness in a spoof of WCW's Sting when he was accidentally released, causing him to fall 78 feet to his death.
Smith took to Twitter to blast Russo for his role in TNA's failures and for writing the script that led to Owen's death.
Updated SummerSlam Card And Rumors
"Congratulations @pyroballyhoo not only did u murder my brother but you've successfully killed 2 wrestling companies.I have a challenge for u," Smith wrote on Twitter.
"Maybe u'd like 2 try killing me on ur last failed broadcast I would donate my share 2 Owens foundation, #pleasenopolematches @pyroballyhoo," he added.
Russo has been working for TNA again, and reports have surfaced that Spike TV isn't a fan of Russo or his involvement with the company.
Smith then set the challenge to Russo for Bound For Glory, which takes place on Oct. 12 in Tokyo.
"Since I've ruffled a few feathers Ill make it clear Id like to challenge Russo to a fight at BFG with the proceeds going to Owens foundation," Smith wrote.
"If nothing else good can come of the destruction of TNA, and the loss of jobs, perhaps raising money for a worthy cause would be," Smith added.
Regarding the reports that TNA Impact Wrestling will be canceled by Spike TV come October, according to Wrestlingheadlines.com, TNA officials have sent emails to the talent saying the rumors are completely false and that they are expecting good news from their meetings with the network and will update the talent when they have it.
The complete fate of Impact Wrestling isn't yet known, at this time.
Russo took to his Twitter account to respond to Smith:
