As heated as the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox rivalry is, there are some moments when the two have a mutual respect for one another. Yankee fan Luigi Militello returned a 2013 Red Sox championship ring to the team after finding it in his restaurant.

Militello, owner of Luke's Bar and Grill, said he found the ring in the restaurant's bathroom sink and couldn't believe it was the real thing.

"I was like, geez, it's big. Who would leave this here?" Militello told The Associated Press. "I'm a big Yankee fan. What are the chances of this happening?"

The 14-carat white gold ring with diamonds and sapphires and rubies belonged to New York businessman and Lowell Spinners owner Drew Weber. Weber said he had never worn the ring outside before and he couldn't believe how careless he was.

“I went looking around my apartment and started having palpitations. Sweat was pouring off my forehead," he told the AP. "I'm looking at my finger and it's not there.”

Weber called the restaurant that night and Militello told him he had the ring, and joked that he wasn't going to get it back so easily. Militello turned down any money that Weber offered, but did accept an invitation from the Red Sox to attend Derek Jeter’s last regular-season game in Boston on September 28.

Weber also made a contribution to a charity of Militello’s choice, which ended up being toward the relief efforts for Superstorm Sandy damage on Fire Island.
