Two clubs looking to return to form will do battle today in a friendly between the San Jose Earthquakes and Atletico Madrid. The match scheduled for 7 p.m. ET will be held at Candlestick Park in San Francisco and can be live streamed here free. Additional TV coverage can be found on beIN Sports.
For the San Jose Earthquakes, tonight's friendly will serve as a much needed break from league competition. The club has been less than stellar this season, dwelling at the bottom of the Western Conference. After a 5-1 undressing of the Chicago Fire, however, optimism's abound. Striker Chris Wondolowski believes his club has found the recipe for success.
"We connected passes, and it's just one of those encouraging things when you do the right thing and the you see the results," he said (via the club's official website). "Sometimes this year, we've done the right thing but haven't gotten the results. It's a bit frustrating. You start scratching your head."
"You wonder if that really is the right thing," he added. "But I think today really showed us that when we get the ball down and connect those passes and finish off chances, it's a good recipe."
The Quakes will need to transfer that recipe over to today's friendly to avoid embarrassment against the Spanish league champions.
