Rest is the least of Anthony Davis' concerns as the New Orleans Pelicans franchise star sets to join the Team USA Training Camp in Las Vegas in preparation for the FIBA World Cup in Madrid, Spain next month.

The 21-year old is coming off his first All-Star season in just his second year in the league. And while other big men like Blake Griffin and Kevin Love have decided to stay home in preparation for the upcoming season, Davis is eager to don the national colors.

''Of course, I'm a young guy, so all I want to do is play basketball right now,'' Davis said as quoted by NBA.com. ''That's the only thing on my mind is just play, play, play. I love the game so much.''

David said he understands why some veteran players would prefer to skip international tournaments after a grueling NBA season. But he says he's just taking advantage of his youth.

''But I'm definitely just loving playing basketball, especially now, in the summertime; I think that's where you get better. And a lot of opportunities like this don't come for a lot of Americans because there's a lot of (American basketball stars). So you definitely don't take it for granted.''

Davis was part of the Team USA in the London Olympics two years ago, but he was mostly used as a reserve. With Love and Griffin out, the chances are high he'll be picked owing to his defensive prowess. Davis has also bulked up, now weighing 238 pounds after entering the league at 220 pounds.
