Rapper Lil Wayne has created his own sports management company. The New Orleans-born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., has even signed his first major client in Cristiano Ronaldo.

The move comes after Ronaldo had expressed interest in expanding his CR7 brand to a broader audience than he has at the moment. According to The Independent, the surge of soccer popularity helped put Ronaldo make a push for a sports management company.

“The Ballon d’Or winner didn’t enjoy the best of World Cup’s during the summer as his Portugal side were knocked out in the group stages, but he did have reason to celebrate come the end of the season after guiding Real Madrid to the tenth Champions League success in their history.

The World Cup saw football (or ‘soccer’) sweep the United States, largely thanks to the impressive showing in Brazil by Team USA, and it now seems that Ronaldo is ready to tap into that interest in order to expand the global brand that is CR7.”

As for Lil Wayne, the rapper will work with PolarisSports and Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes when it comes to handling “Ronaldo’s sports management affairs in the United States”. Carter is the second major label rapper to get into the sports management business as Jay Z started Roc Nation Sports in 2013.

Since Roc Nation Sports opened it’s doors, Jay Z has been able to attract Seattle Mariners All-Star second baseman Robinson Canó, New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz and WNBA prospect Skylar Diggins.
