Brett Favre denies he is worried about being booed when he returns to Green Bay and now the Packers have commented on their plans for the future Hall of Famer. The Packers plan on having Favre back in Green Bay in 2014, but won’t retire his No. 4 right away.

Brett Favre Scared of Green Bay Return?

Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy wants to have Favre at a home game in 2014, but not to retire his jersey.

"We are talking about bringing him back for a game this year," Murphy said. "We had discussions last year about bringing him back for a game; those were not fruitful. But we're hopeful we can get him back for a game this year.”

Any appearance by Favre in 2014 has to be seen as a test run for when the team decides to retire his No. 4. The Packers attempt to get Favre into Green Bay will tell the franchise a lot about the fans feelings toward their former star.

Denver Broncos Owner Steps Down

Murphy said he expects the good people of Green Bay to look at Favre’s whole resume and not just his last few years as a Minnesota Viking.

"I think they (the fans) are going to look back and they're going to see the entirety of what (Favre) did, not just the last few years when he played for the Vikings," Murphy said. "He's arguably the best or one of the best players in the history of the Packers. Probably had as big of an impact on the organization as anybody in the history of the organization.

"I'm very hopeful that when he does come back that he will be fully, fully supported by our fans. I'm confident in that.”

Favre held the Packers hostage for a number of seasons as he wanted to be the teams starter, but the team felt that it was time to move toward Aaron Rogers. Favre was traded to the New York Jets soon after and then joined the Vikings.

Whenever Favre decides to return to Green Bay, it will be a trial run to gauge how the fans receive him after all this time. If it is a positive reaction, you can bet that Favre’s No. 4 will be retired in 2015.
