The UCLA Bruins have a great quarterback in Brett Hundley and he is seen as one of the top NFL prospects at the position. Head coach Jim Mora believes Hundley will transition well to the NFL, but hopes he doesn't confront the "stereotypes" often placed on African-American quarterbacks.

Mora didn’t shy away from his words at the Pac-12 media days and said that Hundley shouldn't be grouped with the likes of Michael Vick due to the color of his skin.

“People have a tendency at times to see an African-American quarterback and say, 'Oh, he’s a runner.' I hate that stereotype and I always have,” said Mora. “I coached Michael Vick and my belief (is) that we stereotype those guys started with him. I don’t want that to happen with Brett, and I’m going to make sure that it doesn’t, because it shouldn’t."

The 6-foot-3, 227-pound Hundley was expected to leave UCLA after this past season, but shocked many by returning to school for his redshirt junior season. Mora believes when Hundley decides to take his game to the next level he will be a star.

“I can tell you unequivocally that Brett Hundley is a first-round draft pick. The guy’s a future star in the NFL.”

Hundley, along with Oregon’s Marcus Mariota and Florida State’s Jameis Winston, is expected to be a Heisman Trophy hopeful when the 2014 season is said and done. In an injury plagued 2013, Hundley completed 66.8 percent of his passes for 24 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

UCLA is expected to be a contender in the difficult Pac-12, but as long as Hundley is at quarterback the Bruins have a chance to make some noise on the new college football landscape.
