The Atlanta Falcons and wide receiver Roddy White have agreed on a contract extension that is worth $30 million, including $18 million over the next two seasons. White’s three-year extension will keep the 33-year-old receiver in Atlanta through the 2017 season.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, White was dedicated to the Falcons for the long haul and has been very vocal about his desire to stay with the team.
"I want to be here, no doubt about it," White said in December. "I've spent my whole career here, and I love the organization. I love everyone in it.”
White is a former first-round pick had six consecutive seasons of 1,000 receiving before hamstring and ankle injuries limited him to 711 yards in 2013. White is one of the NFL’s premiere receivers and he ranks in the top 10 in most of the major receiving categories. Since entering the league in 2005, White’s 685 receptions rank eighth among active players, while his 9,436 receiving yards rank fifth.
White also has 55 touchdown catches during that time which is good for 10th in the NFL. The Falcons are looking to rebound from a huge let down season as they finished 4-12.
