The battered and bruised Miami Dolphin offensive line got considerably worse Wednesday as Pro Bowl center Mike Pouncey is expected to miss eight weeks of the regular season following hip surgery.

According to the Miami Herald, Pouncey was expected to miss was 4-6 weeks, but now it is believed that the Dolphins will be without their anchor for at least half the regular season. It is believed that the Dolphins will look from within for Pouncey’s replacement in the form of backups Sam Brenner and Nate Garner. The team also hasn't ruled out moving starting guard Shelley Smith over to center for the duration of the injury.

Miami is in the middle of an overhaul on the offensive line after the Bullygate scandal that saw the Dolphins lose both Jonathan Martin and Richie Incognito. Pouncey recently found out that he will not be punished by the NFL for his role in the bulling scandal.

Pouncey is the latest Dolphin to be lost after defensive end Dion Jordan was suspended four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances. The Dolphins haven't made the playoffs in five straight seasons and finished 8-8 in 2013 despite all the negative attention from the bullying scandal.
