Jason Kidd is out of Brooklyn and Andrei Kirilenko thinks it is for the better. In a recent interview, Kirilenko said that he believes Kidd wanted out of New York because he couldn't take the pressure of the Big Apple.
Kirilenko spoke to SovSport of Russia and said that he believes that Kidd couldn't handle the pressures of New York and that it is for the best that he was traded.
“So the pressure is huge,” he said, per a translation from Nets Daily. “And Kidd couldn’t handle it. Or maybe didn’t want to.
“Basically he was not able to do much of anything, if you look at the big picture — we have to admit that fact. There were objective reasons. Our starting center, Brook Lopez, injured himself early and was out for the whole season. There were health problems with other players. But the serious goals set before the club were not cancelled. We were serious about fighting for the title.”
It was clear that Kirilenko wasn't Kidd’s favorite player as he averaged a career low 19 minutes a game in a injury plagued season. AK47 believes that the Nets rushed Kidd into the coach's chair and never really recovered despite winning a playoff series. Kirilenko didn't hold back on his expectations for Kidd going forward and said he expects the Bucks to suffer from the same shortcomings as the Nets did in 2013-14.
The Brooklyn Nets and Jason Kidd had a nasty divorce, but both came out in better situations. The Nets ended up with Lionel Hollins as their head coach and two second round picks while Kidd was dealt to Milwaukee to coach the Bucks.
