CM Punk's WWE contract officially expired this week, and he reportedly had some sort of parting of the ways with the company on his way out despite not competing for it since January.

WWE Battleground Preview And Predictions

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, Punk and the WWE had some sort of parting of the ways this week prior to the company switching him from the active roster to the alumni section on WWE.com, but it's unclear in what capacity.

Following the WWE and Punk parting ways, the "Best in the World" took to Twitter to thank his fans for their support throughout the years.

"Nope, thank YOU. Thanks for all the help and support through the years. Health and happiness above all. Don't ever take any sh-- from anybody," Punk tweeted.

Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, walked out on the WWE in January due to being burned out from the rigorous travel schedule and from frustration over the way he was being used in storylines.

There was speculation that Punk and the WWE may work out a new deal once the old one expired because Punk's wife and WWE Diva AJ Lee returned to action and the WWE heavily advertised Punk's Beyond the Ring WWE Network special, but it is doubtful he will return to action.

The WWE released a video teasing the upcoming special for Punk.

Since Punk's departure on the day after the Royal Rumble, the WWE has only mentioned him occasionally on television amid raucous "CM Punk" chants from the crowd upon his departure.

Punk is likely done with wrestling, at least for the WWE, and has enjoyed his free time by making sporadic appearances on television and at Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks games.

There was some initial belief Punk would take a quick break and come back to the company, but it became apparent he was done with the organization when he skipped the March 3 Chicago RAW, the huge WrestleMania XXX event on April 6 and then the WWE's recent Money in the Bank pay-per-view last month from his home state of Illinois.

Punk's contract is officially up with the WWE, and it remains doubtful that the "Best in the World" will return to action in the WWE.
