The 2013 Ligue 1 season is in the books. Now, Paris Saint-Germain returns to the pitch with hopes of embarking on another league-title run in 2014. The club is kicking off its summer tour this afternoon and will face German outfit Red Bull Leipzig. The club friendly scheduled for 1 p.m. ET will be held at Red Bull Arena in Leipzig and can be live streamed here free.
After a busy summer transfer window—one that saw the services of center-back David Luiz land in Paris—manager Laurent Blanc hopes more will follow. Real Madrid's Angel Di Maria is one attacking midfielder swirling around the rumor mill, but Blanc's raid of the Chelsea roster might not yet be complete.
Another name linked with a return to Ligue 1 is that of Belgian international Eden Hazard. Blanc, however, remains a skeptic, understanding the importance of the 23-year-old at Stamford Bridge. "Hazard is a top player, but I think Chelsea want to keep him," he said (via Sky Sports). "A lot of players are going to be mentioned, but we have already got our priority, David Luiz. We're going to wait a bit before making any more signings. Be patient."
When asked about the possible departures of Ezequiel Lavezzi, Marquinhos and Javier Pastore, Blanc added: "Some players will ask to leave, we'll have to see. For the moment, that's not the case. We're going to bring in some players. One or two of great quality."
Will one or two of those great players be the likes of Eden Hazard or Angel Di Maria? Tell us @SportsWN.
