Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra hasn't spoken about the LeBron James situation since the season ended, but now he says he has “no regrets” concerning his time with LeBron.

Spoelstra spoke to reporters Tuesday and said that he was absolutely surprised by James decision, but knows that nothing last forever in the NBA.

"He seemed at peace with the decision," Spoelstra said. "We don't have any regrets. He shouldn't have any regrets. It was a historic four-year run.”

Spoelstra showed more support for his former player and continued the message that Cleveland is getting an incredible player.

"This league does teach you that it's inevitable that there's constant change and you always have to continue to embrace change, adapt with change," Spoelstra told reporters. "This is a big, monumental change that we didn't necessarily anticipate but you have to respect it because when you're a free agent in this league you have the right to make a decision that's best for you and your family. When he made that decision that was best for his family, where his heart is, all you can do from our side is respond with respect and love.”

Spoelstra and LeBron appeared in the NBA Finals each of the four years they spent together and took home two NBA championships in the process. LeBron stated in his open letter that he and Spoelstra have no hard feelings and he wanted to make it clear that his decision has nothing to do with their relationship.

Spoelstra said he believes he will talk to LeBron at some point, but hasn't reached out to him yet. The Heat coach stressed that his message to James will be no different than before and their relationship hasn't changed.
