Free agent Martin Brodeur has said that he will not retire as he sits 12 wins away from 700 for his career. Brodeur has been mum on his free agency and some close to him believe that he will hold out signing a new contract until midseason.

Brodeur’s agent spoke about his clients possible landing spots for next season and believes Brodeur is looking for a perfect fit no matter how long it takes.

"Marty has a lot to offer, but it will be the right fit and this may come later this summer or even early in the season," Brodeur’s agent, Pat Brisson, said "He is in no rush until the right fit appears. In the meantime, he is getting ready the same way he has the past 20 seasons."

Brodeur is seeking a larger role in the organization he joins after sitting behind Devils’ starting goalie Cory Schneider last season. Broudeur’s son Anthony was drafted by the Devils in 2013 and even he doesn’t know what his father is planning to do this coming season.

“I have no clue. I ask him every day and he says, ‘I don’t know,’ “ Anthony insisted. “It’s a little strange. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I’m just as much in the loop as you guys are. He tells me a little bit, but I can’t say anything.”

Brodeur is the NHL’s all-time leader in wins as a goalie and is only 12 victories away from 700 for his career. Brodeur is a 21-year veteran and owns three championships with the Devils. When Brodeur does decide to hang up the skates, the Hall of Fame is most definitly his very next stop.
