Prior to the main event of this week's Monday Night RAW, John Cena handed the big gold World Heavyweight Championship to WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair and carried the WWE Championship along with him to the ring, leading to speculation that the WWE may retire the World Heavyweight Title.

The champion had been carrying around two belts ever since the WWE combined the WWE Championship and World Heavyweight Championship into the WWE World Heavyweight Championship when Randy Orton defeated Cena at last December's Tables, Ladders and Chairs event, but now there are rumors that the WWE Championship may be the only title carried around now.

Cena appeared on the stage at RAW prior to the three-on-two handicap main event pitting Cena and Roman Reigns against Orton, Kane and Seth Rollins and allowed Flair to lift the big gold World Heavyweight Championship in the air and then told him to keep it. Cena went to the ring with the WWE Championship while Flair left with the other belt.

While Flair left with the title, Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that the WWE will likely be keeping both belts around due to the fact that they can sell both as merchandise, among other reasons.

There has been no confirmation that the WWE plans to retire the big gold belt and have Cena just hold one title from now on and according to the report, Flair returned backstage from his segment with John Cena and handed it back to the WWE, instead of leaving the arena with it.

The WWE has not made any type of statement regarding the status of the belt.

Whether he has two belts or one, Cena will put the gold up for grabs in a Fatal 4 Way match Sunday night at Battleground from the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Florida.
