It was reported back in January that the New England Patriots were exploring trade possibilities with the Arizona Cardinals regarding Larry Fitzgerald. Not only was Fitzgerald not traded, but he says the Patriots never reached out to him about a trade.

Fitzgerald spoke to USA Today and said if there were any trade talks with the Patriots, he was unaware as they never reached out to him.

"Nothing at all," he said "I mean, I heard stuff that was being said. But there was never a time where the team approached me. Nothing like that.”

Trade talks involving the eight-time Pro Bowler took off in January after negotiations to restructure his contract went sour. The trade talks died when Fitzgerald decided to restructure the contract in February.

Fitzgerald’s latest restructured contract puts the Cardinals in a hole in 2015 as he holds a $23.6 million cap number. The Cardinals will likely explore trade options again next offseason, but it is impossible to predict the market for a 30-year-old receiver who could show signs of decline at any time.

Whatever the future holds, Fitzgerald didn't sound too worried as he plans to "cherish every moment" he has on the football field going forward.

"Whatever happens after the season, happens after the season," Fitzgerald said. "But most of that stuff is out of my control anyway."

Fitzgerald had 82 receptions for 954 yards and 10 touchdowns as the Cardinals shocked the NFL and finished with a 10-6 record in the incredible NFC West.
