Roman Reigns was slated to be the next big babyface in the WWE, but his singles push to the top may have been accelerated due to the fact that Daniel Bryan sustained a neck injury that has caused the WWE an immediate need for a top good guy.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, the ascension of Reigns and the WWE pushing him in a big way is a result of Bryan undergoing neck surgery that has sidelined him for the foreseeable future as another surgery may loom.

Bryan's timetable for a return from mid-May neck surgery remains up in the air as he still hasn't regained full feeling in his arm after the procedure and may have to undergo an operation on his shoulder, leaving him out of the WWE's long-term plans for now.

Daniel Bryan Likely To Undergo Second Surgery, Timetable Unclear

Reigns' push would have been slower than it has been if Bryan was a healthy No. 2 babyface to go along with top star and WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena, who likely wouldn't have the belt if not for Bryan getting injured.

When the WWE decided to split up The Shield and begin the ascension of Reigns while Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose continue to feud, it wasn't expected that Reigns would be pushed so quickly.

Reigns now finds himself in the WWE Championship picture as he will battle Cena, Randy Orton and Kane for the belt in a Fatal 4 Way match at Battleground on July 20 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Florida.

Reports have been that the WWE will build off of the past Shield and Evolution feud, with Reigns likely battling Orton at SummerSlam on Aug. 17 in Los Angeles and bridge that into a potential big match with Triple H at Night of Champions Sept. 21 or Hell in a Cell on Oct. 26 as a way to have WWE Network subscribers renew their subscriptions to watch the events.

There were rumors last week that Reigns push will probably continue to accelerate in 2015 as there is speculation that all three ex-Shield members will be the final three left in the Royal Rumble match and Reigns will win the contest and go on to headline WrestleMania 31 at Levi's Stadium next March in the Bay Area.

Reports have surfaced that Reigns would face Brock Lesnar at the Show of Shows, and Lesnar is rumored to clash with Cena for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam.

2014 has already been a big year for Reigns and he is likely going to continue to be pushed to the main event as the WWE continues to build him up as a top babyface in the company.
