The Oakland Raiders acquired backup quarterback Matt Flynn from the Seattle Seahawks for two draft picks Monday. In return, Seattle will receive Oakland's fifth-round pick in the 2014 draft and a conditional pick in 2015.

Both teams announced that the trade had been finalized Monday afternoon, ESPN.com reported. Oakland is also trying to finalize a trade that will send current starter Carson Palmer to the Arizona Cardinals, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

"Matt is a tough football player, and a talented quarterback," Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie told ESPN. "He will get the opportunity to compete to be a starter with the Raiders. I believe Matt has that potential, but I also know he hasn't had enough experience. We're going to let him compete and battle, and see what happens."

Flynn was originally acquired by Seattle to be their starting quarterback last offseason before the team drafted Russell Wilson. Wilson beat out Flynn for the starting job and emerged as a key contributor to the Seahawks' playoff run last season.
