CM Punk has been plenty busy since he walked out on the WWE back in January, and now the "Best in the World" will be appearing on a music awards red carpet show.

Update On Sting's Cryptic Twitter Messages

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, will be co-hosting the red carpet special that airs on AXSTV for the first annual Gibson Brands AP Music Awards on July 21.

Punk commented on the upcoming appearance and seems to be excited for it.

New Matches Added To WWE Battleground, Updated Card

"Well, I'm actually stoked to get out of the house and get gussied up for the first-ever Gibson Brands AP Music Awards, fueled by Monster Energy Drink," Punk said. "Red carpets and me don't mix, so I figure it'll be a perfectly hilarious night with friends and a live microphone-my favorite! Be there and be square!"

The event is slated to take place at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland later this month and will be one of many non-wrestling events that Punk has attended since he left the company in the winter.

Punk stormed out on the WWE in January prior to a Monday Night RAW telecast on the night after the Royal Rumble pay-per-view due to being frustrated with his character and burned out through the rigorous travel schedule.

Punk hasn't been seen on WWE television since the Royal Rumble and the company was hoping that he would come back and worked on getting him to return after he left. Once Punk skipped the Chicago RAW in his hometown on March 3 and then WrestleMania XXX on April 6, it became clear that he wasn't coming back and the company reportedly gave up on it and only mentioned him selectively on-air.

There were rumors that Punk may return to the company once his wife AJ Lee returned on the June 30 RAW after taking time off to marry and move in with him in Chicago, but reports have indicated that his status hasn't changed and he is still under contract through July 17 but isn't likely to return before or after it expires.

Punk has enjoyed his free time by appearing at various Chicago Blackhawks and Cubs games and has appeared on AMC's Talking Dead and IFC's Maron.

While it's unlikely that Punk will be returning to the company anytime soon, those who miss him in the squared circle can catch him on AXSTV's red carpet special for the first annual Gibson Brands AP Music Awards on July 21.
