Kentucky Wildcats head coach John Calipari announced Monday that freshman guard Archie Goodwin will enter the NBA draft. Calipari also announced that Willie Cauley-Stein and Kyle Wiltjer will forego the draft and return to Kentucky next season.
"I fully support him choosing to pursue his dreams," Calipari told ESPN of Goodwin's decision. ESPN.com's Chad Ford currently ranks Goodwin as the 24th overall prospect in the NBA draft and seventh among shooting guards.
Goodwin averaged a team-best 14 points for the Wildcats during his only season with the team. Kentucky followed up their 2012 national championship season with a disappointing opening round loss to Robert Morris in the NIT.
Goodwin will become the fourth consecutive freshman point guard to declare for the NBA draft during the Calipari-Kentucky era -- including Marquis Teague, Brandon Knight and John Wall. However, among the group, Goodwin ranks last in Offensive Rating, Assist Rating, Free Throw Percentage and 3-Point Field Goal Percentage.
