CM Punk hasn't appeared on WWE programming since walking out on the company in January despite the fact that his contract isn't up until later this month, however now that his new wife A.J. Lee has returned to the squared circle, questions have arisen as to whether or not Punk's status with the company has changed.

Updated Plans And Card For WWE Battleground 2014

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, there has been a lot of speculation since Lee returned last week on Monday Night RAW that Punk may finally be ready to come back after storming out of the company in January due to being burned out and frustrated over the way his character was being used.

The speculation heightened this week when the WWE announced that Punk -- whom they've mostly snubbed since he walked out and only mention when they're backed into a corner -- would be featured on WrestleMania Rewind this week on the WWE Network.

WWE Monday Night RAW Results And Backstage Reaction

Despite all of the speculation, word in the WWE right now is that there are currently no plans for the "Best in the World" to return to the company. Punk is still under contract until July 17, which is next Thursday, and currently word is that Punk's status within the company hasn't changed.

According to the report, sources have also said Lee being Punk's wife and returning last week "has "no bearing at all" on the WWE's relationship with Punk and a source has even said that the company has had little contact with Punk after he left and showed no signs of returning.

Initial reports were that the WWE was trying to get Punk back soon after he quit in January but once he missed his hometown Chicago Monday Night RAW on March 3 and then skipped WrestleMania XXX in April the company had given up on getting him back.

Lee took time off from the WWE shortly after it was reported that she and Punk were engaged, and she was written out of the WWE storylines by losing the Divas Championship to Paige on the April 7 edition of RAW on the night after WrestleMania XXX.

The two were married in mid-June and Lee returned to action on the June 30 episode of RAW, defeating Paige and winning the Divas Championship back.

Following her return, speculation has risen that Punk would follow suit in coming back to the WWE, but as it stands right now, his status has not changed.
