This was the year of the pass rusher in the NFL Draft and now the best in the class are talking about their quarterback hit list. Houston Texans’ Jadeveon Clowney and Oakland Raiders’ Khalil Mack told separate news outlets that they have a list of people they have been itching to hit come the 2014 season.

Clowney started this little war of words by calling out the top quarterback in his division.

“My goal in the NFL is to sack Andrew Luck. He’s in my division, [we play] him two times a year, he’s a dangerous quarterback, he makes good decisions with the ball, so I just want to get after him and sack him one time.”

Not to be outdone, Mack was a guest writer for The Monday Morning Quarterback for theMMQB.com and raised the stakes.

"I think I have a couple guys on my sack list: AFC West resident Peyton Manning, fellow Class of 2014 member Blake Bortles, and I've got to put Tom Brady on there," Mack wrote. "Brady is going to pass the ball more than 36 times a game, so that's a lot of opportunities for me.”

Both rookies are expected to play huge roles in the futures of their respective teams, but Clowney’s expectations are sky high. Clowney has been touted as the best defensive prospect in the past 20 years while Mack was just "the guy from Buffalo” for most of the draft process.

As much as these two players want to make an impact in their rookie seasons, the main race for them is to see which one of them will win the Defensive Rookie of the Year.
