Now that The Shield has broken up, it has been highly expected that the WWE will begin to launch the career of Roman Reigns as the next top singles babyface and the momentum he builds this year could pay dividends for him next year.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, there has been early talk of Reigns winning the 2015 30-man Royal Rumble match and going on to headline WrestleMania 31 by becoming the No. 1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Though Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose have broken up and the latter two ex-Shield members are currently feuding, the company reportedly has long-term plans to use them like they have DX in the past, by having them reunite every once in a while during their run as singles stars, with the first reunion likely to happen in a few years.

Cesaro The Favorite To Win The IC Title At Battleground

There are early plans for the Royal Rumble that would see the trio end up as the final three participants in the match, leading to Reigns winning it and going on to WrestleMania. There have been rumors that Reigns would clash with Brock Lesnar at the show of shows at Levi's Stadium next March, and it looks like that match may be for the gold.

It is widely speculated that John Cena will retain his WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the Fatal 4 Way match involving Reigns, Randy Orton and Kane at Battleground on July 20 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Florida and then go on to face Lesnar in the main event at SummerSlam Aug. 17 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The reported plans for the biggest show of the summer would see Lesnar defeat Cena for the title fresh off of ending The Streak of The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX this past April. If Lesnar were to go on to face Reigns at WrestleMania for the title, he'd have to have a lengthy run or lose the title and come back and win it again since he's a part-time worker.

It had been reported that Lesnar would win the belt at SummerSlam and stay with the company through Night of Champions on Sept. 21 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, where he'd lose the belt -- likely back to Cena.

If the WWE is set on having Lesnar take on Reigns for the belt at WrestleMania 31, there is a possible situation where Reigns could win the Royal Rumble while Lesnar could defeat Cena or whoever is the champion at either the Royal Rumble or February's Elimination Chamber, but it's unknown at this time if the WWE is officially planning Lesnar vs. Reigns for the gold at the show of shows.

No matter what happens come March of 2015, 2014 is set to be a huge year for Reigns as he is rumored to face Orton in a high-profile match at SummerSlam and then Triple H at either Night of Champions or October's Hell in a Cell as the company continues to groom him to be the star of the future.
