Louisville Cardinals guard Kevin Ware was moving on crutches Monday morning, the morning after he suffered a gruesome injury during an NCAA match against Duke.
Louisiville director of media relations Kenny Klein tweeted a picture of Ware recovering in hospital with the message :"Louisville G Kevin Ware up and moving on crutches today after surgery to repair a broken leg yesterday."
Coach Rick Pitino said Ware was doing well.
"He's doing terrific, in great spirits," Pitino said on a conference call today, according to AP. "He'll be with us in Atlanta."
Ware broke his leg during the first half of Sunday's match when he tried to block a 3-point shot and fell snapping his leg in half. His teammates were openly crying and reports said some people in the audience were vomitting.
Ware is expected to return to Louisville on Tuesday, according to Pitino. Doctors are observing that there are no infections after the surgery.
The Cardinals are scheduled to travel to Atlanta on Wednesday night and Ware is expecting to go with them, according to Pitino.
