Footage of Olympian/Paralympian Oscar Pistorius reenacting the scene of the night he shot and killed girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp has emerged and is scheduled to broadcast Sunday night.

Oscar Pistorius' mental competency again an issue during his murder trial

The Telegraph is reporting that Pistorius, on trial with a murder charge for killing Steenkamp, participated in a reenactment of the events leading up to the shooting. The reenactment, which was not part of the trial, is scheduled to be aired on Australia's Channel Seven on Sunday night.

It was not immediately known why the reenactment was made.

According to the Telegraph, "a preview of the footage shows the athlete running awkwardly without his prostheses, his arm stretched out from his body and his hand clenched as it holding a gun, watched and directed by several men in suits. Another sequence shows a bird's eye view of him struggling on all fours to pull a motionless brunette woman out of a small lavatory similar to the one in his home.

Wearing a green Nike vest and black Lycra shorts, the 27-year-old looks impassive as he acts out the events of the night that, as he said in the witness box, 'everything changed.'

Pistorius contends that he shot Steenkamp because he thought she was an intruder. The prosecution is trying to prove that he deliberately shot her after an argument.

According to the Telegraph, witnesses have said during the trial that Pistorius is unable to run on his amputated legs without holding onto something for stability, but the preview footage shows him running unaided.

The Telegraph included Pistorius' testimony on his version of the events that took place in the early morning hours of Feb. 14, 2013.

"During his time in the witness box, Pistorius described how he woke in the night to move two fans in from the balcony and heard what he believed to be the bathroom window opening. He said he immediately believed an intruder was in his home, whispered to Steenkamp to get down and call the police, then got his gun from beside his bed and crept towards the bathroom. He said he heard the lavatory door slam and started shouting at the perceived intruder to get out of his house, while telling Steenkamp to call the police. He said a third noise from inside the lavatory prompted him to shoot at the door four times."

A spokeswoman for Pistorius said he lawyer urgently is seeking clarification on the footage to be aired.
