Floyd "Money" Mayweather has a fight coming up on September 13, but he's already hyping a future fight in May. The pound-for-pound boxing king is all but assured to face Marcos Maidana in September, going as far as name-dropping "El Chino" at the BET Awards.

Amir Khan says Floyd fight will happen one day

"Sept. 13, back to business, Marcos Maidana-Floyd Mayweather, part II," Mayweather said.

Maidana's camp were in no rush to confirm that, as his manager Sebastien Contursi told ESPN.com. "Still in the talks. Nothing confirmed on our side," Contursi said. "Hopefully, we'll have a decision made in the next 4-5 days." Maidana also sent off an optimistic tweet crediting Mayweather for living up to his promises.

"REMATCH in the talks. Respect for @FloydMayweather man of his word, yet only fist talk in the ring. #LATINPOWER"

While Maidana's last fight with Floyd was competitive, Mayweather was the clear winner; outside of Mayweather's skills deserting him in a hurry, it is hard to imagine Maidana fighting better than he did the first go-round. That's likely why Mayweather is already hyping his May fight-at the BET Awards Mayweather also said, "And then in May, I'm fighting in May and I'll have a big surprise for ya'll."

Mayweather Sr. doesn't like Maidana rematch

Recent quotes from Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez, set to face Erislandy Lara July 12, created some dots for the connecting. He indicated a desire to reclaim Cinco De Mayo and Mexican Independence day for his people, dates that traditionally belong to Money Mayweather.

"Yes, of course, I want to re-take those dates and bring them back," Alvarez said. "Those dates are Mexican dates. For next year, I will be fighting and I want to be fighting on those dates."

Golden Boy founder Oscar De La Hoya played it coy, choosing to remain focused on Lara. "Canelo has now become a star of his own and has begun having a big draw and being a person who fans adore. Me, as his promoter, it is my obligation to do what's best for the fighter. So we're obviously focusing 100 percent on Erislandy Lara and then we will be sitting down with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and planning out his future."
