Buffalo Bills linebacker Kiko Alonso has torn his ACL while working out in Oregon and is expected to miss the entire 2014 season. It is unclear how Alonso suffered the injury, but his expected recovery time is seven-to-nine-months.

Alonso was the 2013 Defensive Rookie of the Year and finished the season third in tackles while not missing a single defensive snap for the Bills. The Bills made an official statement via their website before the results of Alonso’s MRI came back.

"We have learned tonight that Kiko Alonso injured his knee while working out in Oregon," said Bills general manager Doug Whaley "We do not have the details at this point, but early indications are that it may be significant.”

Alonso was expected to change positions in Jim Schwartz's new defense to help make more plays in space. The Bills were expected to make Alonso the weak side linebacker and give the middle linebacker role to newly acquired Brandon Spikes.

If the timeframe holds true, Alonso will be available for the Bills in February so if you are the Bills you have to be telling Alonso to get ready for the 2015 season. Nigel Bradham and Ty Powell are expected to pick up the slack in Alonso's absence, but the team could option to see outside help via free agency.
