The story of day 8 of Wimbledon is how we lost both No. 2 Rafael Nadal and No. 5 Maria Sharapova after such a strong showing in the early goings of the tournament.

Along with Nadal, the men’s side of the bracket lost No. 10 Kei Nishikori, No. 19 Feliciano Lopez and No. 23 Tommy Robredo while the women’s side lost No. 22 Ekaterina Makarova.

Day 9 of the tournament will give us both Murray and Federer as they look to avoid Nadal’s fate in the All England Club. Both Murray and Federer have shown enough poise to make it to the final on the men’s side. While Halep might be the favorite by default on the women’s side considering how many other women have lost prematurely.
