Sidney Crosby, the most polarizing figure in the NHL, left the Penguins' game against the New York Islanders early after being hit in the face with a puck. Crosby skated off the ice after only 1:28 minutes into Saturday's game before Pittsburgh went on to win their 15th consecutive game, tying their franchise record set in 1992-93.

Crosby immediately fell to the ice and tossed his stick in the air and did not return in the first period. During the second, the Penguins announced that he would not be back in the game.

Pittsburgh proved to be successful without their captain, scoring late in the game thanks to third period goals from Matt Cooke and James Neal. Penguins' goalie Tomas Vokoun shut out the Islanders recording 35 saves in 60 minutes of play.

The Penguins will look to build on their winning streak in their matchup against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday. Although the status of Crosby is in question, Pittsburgh will gain an extra scorer following the acquisition of former Calgary Flame Jarome Iginla.
