The U.S. enters today's match vying for a spot in the quarterfinals, a position not many imagined before the start of the 2014 World Cup. According to goalkeeper Tim Howard, it's all about proving the critics wrong.
"We navigated ourselves through the so-called Group of Death," he said (via FIFA). "Not many people gave us credit to be able to do that before the tournament started."
"It's always good to stuff it to a few people who always take the negative road," Howard added. "The only way you prove critics wrong is by going out there and doing what they say you can't do. We did that. We did it with grit and heart."

Player to Watch: Exploiting the United States' weaker, left side will be the responsibility of Belgium's Dries Mertens. The 27-year-old enters today's match with one goal, but his average of 1.7 successful take-ons per match makes him the dangerous threat DaMarcus Beasley's ankles dread.
Belgium's Projected Lineup (4-2-3-1): Courtois; Vertonghen, Kompany, Buyten, Alderweireld; Witsel, Fellaini; Hazard, Bruyne, Mertins; Lukaku
USA's Projected Lineup (4-2-3-1): Howard; Beasley, Besler, Cameron, Johnson; Beckerman, Jones; Bedoya, Bradley, Zusi; Dempsey
