While Battleground is next up on the WWE's pay-per-view calendar, the company has started building towards the second biggest pay-per-view of the year, SummerSlam, on Aug. 17 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and the organization is finalizing creative plans as four matches are slated to headline the show.

Projected Card For WWE Battleground

It has been widely rumored that Brock Lesnar will return fresh off of ending The Streak of The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX and take on John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and reports indicate that is still the planned main event despite the fact that Amazon leaked a DVD cover with both Superstars on the cover, spoiling the plans.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, along with the Cena vs. Lesnar main event, the WWE is planning on having Bray Wyatt battle Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns face Randy Orton and Brie Bella take on Stephanie McMahon at SummerSlam.

Chris Jericho Expected To Stay In WWE Until September

Jericho returned on Monday Night RAW to interrupt the Miz, and after he knocked him out with a Code Breaker and went to continue his promo, he was surrounded by The Wyatt Family.

This is to build towards a match with Family-leader Bray Wyatt at the biggest show of the summer. The two will likely be involved with each other in some capacity at Battleground, saving their singles match for SummerSlam.

Reigns had long been rumored to face Triple H at SummerSlam and their stare down to close out RAW hinted at that, but there are reports that the WWE may save that altercation for Night of Champions as a way to have a big enough match to rope early WWE Network subscribers into renewing their subscriptions in September.

It is still possible that the WWE opts to have Reigns vs. Triple H at SummerSlam, but the company is also prepared to have Reigns battle Orton at the August event instead.

McMahon and Bella have been feuding for a long time over the fact that McMahon was at odds with Bella's husband Daniel Bryan and was eventually forced to strip him of the WWE Championship in recent weeks. McMahon then publicly embarrassed Bella at Money in the Bank by having her escorted out of the arena by security.

This is all being done to build towards their eventual clash at SummerSlam, as Bella -- who was fired in storyline -- will likely be reinstated for the match with McMahon.

Regarding Bryan, his health has been a major concern and major question mark and while he may not be ready to compete at SummerSlam, he is being advertised for it in the In Demand SummerSlam synopsis and could make an appearance.

"When the sun goes down, the action heats up! Don't miss John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns and all your favorite Superstars in the biggest event of the summer," the ad reads.

It'll be an interesting few months with sizzling summer action as the WWE continues to build towards the SummerSlam event on Aug. 17 in Los Angeles.
