The MLB trade deadline is right around the corner and other than every Chicago Cub pitcher, David Price is the most talked about name on the trading block. Price doesn't believe he will be traded, but it is believed the New York Yankees are hot on his trail.

Price, 28, believes he can be part of a great second half for the Rays and wouldn't want to face his friends by playing for another team in the American League East.

“I would hope not,'' Price said, via Newsday. "Tampa is the last team I would want to face, to pitch against. Facing friends is the worst. We're playing well right now, so I expect to be here.”

The Price saga has gone on for close to a year now as the Rays do not want to pay the All-Star pitcher the salary he has requested. Tampa Bay has been known for being frugal with their funds and opt to grow the players through their farm system and efficient spending.

Many teams have asked about Price’s availability but one that is very intriguing is the Yankees. The Yankees would be more than happy to give Price the money he wants, but New York lacks the minor league prospects that Tampa Bay covets. According to ESPN, a proposed trade that would work is the Yankees giving up Gary Sanchez, Luis Severino and Peter O'Brien for Price, but it is unknown what the Rays are asking for. Some other deals have the Rays calling for 2014 breakout players Dellin Betances and Yangervis Solarte.

The Rays are reportedly cold on the idea of trading Price in the American League, never mind the East, but that could all change if a blockbuster offer came along. The Yankees will always be involved in trade talks when it comes to a big name like Price, but its just a matter of if they can sweeten the pot to force the Rays to trade him within the division.
