Brazil (3)1-1(2) Chile

Goals: Brazil—Luiz 16’; Sanchez 32’
It took five rounds of penalties, but Brazil was able to move past Chile in Belo Horizonte on Saturday. An own-goal from Chile’s Gonzalo Jara gifted Brazil a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute. Almost 90 minutes later, the match still required a winner. Gonzalo Jara’s penalty off the post provided it, seeing Brazil through to the quarterfinals.

Colombia 2-0 Uruguay

Goals: Colombia—James 28’, 50’
Complete and utter domination saw Colombia defeat Uruguay 2-0 on Saturday. A sensational strike from James Rodriguez—easily the best of the tournament thus far—opened the affair in the 28th minute. Just over 30 minutes later, the standout player of the 2014 World Cup sealed the 2-0 victory. James now leads all tournament goalscorers with five. A showdown with Brazil awaits Los Cafeteros.
