After being released by the Kansas City Chiefs, cornerback Brandon Flowers found himself a new home in San Diego with the Chargers. Flowers didn't wait long to start talking about the season and called himself the best corner in the league on NFL Total Access.

Flowers spoke with the NFL Total Access team and said that he chose the Chargers knowing that he would be able to play the Chiefs twice a year. Flowers wasn’t shy when addressing questions about his former team.

"The timing that they did it, it kind of hit me. So that's why I stayed in the division. I want to play the Chiefs again, let them know how I felt about it.”

Flowers was then asked who the best cornerback in the NFL and without even taking a second to think he responded.

“Oh, first off, let me just say I’m the best corner in football,” he said with a grin. “Let’s get that clear. Don’t let my injuries last year fool you, or take my name from the top list.”

A bold statement by the one-time Pro Bowler as enters his seventh season in the NFL and his first with the Chargers. Flowers spent six season with the Chiefs and started in 87 of 88 games while in Kansas City. It is perfectly fine for Flowers to believe in his ability, but in a league with Richard Sherman, Patrick Peterson, Darrell Revis and many others, it is hard to imagine a scenario where Flowers is the best.

Flowers is an instant upgrade at corner for the Chargers and will be paired up with rookie Jason Verrett in the new and improved San Diego secondary. The Chargers play the Chiefs on Week 7 and Week 17 which is October 19 and December 28, respectively.
