Chances were few and far between in the mildly entertaining affair. The most noteworthy came in the 23rd minute. A Celso Borges free-kick was parried safely by Ben Foster, allowing both sides to enter the break scoreless. Neither England nor Costa Rica had much to offer from there.
Los Ticos now turn their attention to the Round of 16.
Key Moment: Brilliant build-up from England went without reward in the 65th minute. A superb through ball from Jack Wilshere put Daniel Sturridge in, but the Liverpool striker would see his shot fade just wide of the post.
Man of the Match: Costa Rica's Bryan Ruiz brought the flair in Tuesday's scoreless draw. The 28-year-old's technical ability left the English defense on its heels on several occasions.
Lesson Learned: Costa Rica played to win the group, not the match. With qualification to the Round of 16 already secured, taking home a point was of the utmost importance for head coach Jorge Luis Pinto. The native Colombian knew his team's chances would be better in the second round against the likes of Greece or Ivory Coast. Avoiding Colombia was the priority from the start.
Up Next: England returns home to prepare for the 2016 European Cup, while Costa Rica travels to Recife on June 29 to meet the runner-up of Group C.
