WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross took to his blog on Jrsbarbq.com to speak about the upcoming SummerSlam pay-per-view on Aug. 17 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and Brock Lesnar's role.

WWE Issues Survey On Who Brock Lesnar Should Face At SummerSlam

Amidst rumors that Lesnar will challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the biggest show of the summer, Ross blogged that it's a no-brainer that Lesnar will hold the gold at some point this year after ending The Streak of The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX.

"Anyone that thinks that Brock Lesnar won't be the WWE World Champion sooner or later this year in WWE isn't paying attention," Ross wrote. "Lesnar is WWE's [most] imposing, name worthy, PPV selling superstar who can PASS THE TORCH the best to the next 'Big Thing' who seems to be Roman Reigns. As I have stated on my fantasy booking segments on the Ross Report, I fully expect this to go down at WM31."

Spoilers And Preview For Final Monday Night RAW Before MITB

Lesnar is on a limited appearances deal with the company and hasn't been seen since bragging about ending The Streak on the April 7 RAW the night after WrestleMania XXX, but he is slated to work SummerSlam and hang around until at least Night of Champions in September. It is widely expected he'll leave Los Angeles with the gold.

He was originally slated to face Daniel Bryan but after a neck injury sidelined him for an unknown period of time, the WWE opted to vacate the title and put it on the line in a Ladder Match at Money in the Bank this Sunday. It is expected that John Cena will win, possibly setting up a Cena vs. Lesnar match at SummerSlam.

While a lot of part timers get flak from WWE fans and even some Superstars for stealing the spotlight, Ross said booking Lesnar in the main event is a necessity.

"I'd book Lesnar to headline SummerSlam in Los Angeles and build the card around him," Ross blogged. "Yes, I'm prepared for the onset of knee jerkers who will say that Brock is part time and that part time talents are efficient. I don't concur and think that overexposure is running rampant in the wrestling biz and Lesnar certainly isn't over exposed. The WWE World Champion doesn't need to be on every TV or at every live event. That concept is antiquated."

Ross also said the move should be done regardless of if it takes away the unpredictability factor of professional wrestling.

"If some fans feel that this may be too [predictable], then perhaps some are over thinking a pro wrestling storyline that makes sense," he said. "Making sense when executing a story line is much more important than doing the unpredictably stupid moves to just 'surprise' he audience. Don't get me wrong, I love a good pro wrestling surprise as much as the next fan but NOT at the expense of doing the right thing."

Ross will likely get his wish as all signs point to the WWE wanting to book Lesnar in the main event at SummerSlam.
