With Joel Embiid now scheduled to have surgery on the stress fracture in his foot, some teams are cooling on the Kansas big man. The Boston Celtics are not one of those teams as they are looking at “all options” when it comes to Embiid and could move up to select him in the NBA Draft.

According to A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com, the Celtics could seize an opportunity as Embiid was considered the the top prospect in the draft before the injury.

“The stress fracture in Joel Embiid's right foot will certainly scare some teams away from selecting him near the top of the draft.

But the Boston Celtics aren't one of them.

In fact, a source tells CSNNE.com that the Celtics will give some serious thought to potentially moving up in the draft to select him."

Boston has kept "all options" open leading up to the draft, including the possibility of moving up from their current No. 6 spot.”

It is unknown what teams are still interested in Embiid after his most recent injury, but the Celtics, who draft at No. 6 overall, would have to potential get into the top four to get him. Embiid has has faced questions about his health since he suffered a back injury in college that put him on the shelf for the Big 12 tournament as well as the NCAA tournament.

The Celtics could look to make a big splash in the draft and could even use Embiid as a trade piece as they continue to chase Minnesota Timberwolves’ All-Star Kevin Love.
