The NHL offseason is juts starting up, but it already looks as if the Ottawa Senators will move forward Jason Spezza at some point this offseason. Senators general manager Bryan Murray told reporters Thursday that the team has received calls for Spezza but wont move him unless the receiving team offers him the deal he wants.

Murray said he owes it to the team to listen to every call that comes across his desk and negotiations vary from deal to deal.

"There are certain teams that have called, shown some interest and discussing the possibility, but that's about it," Murray said.

"All we do in our business is investigate. When there is a request by a player you investigate possibilities, talk about it, negotiate. And when you negotiate it sometimes takes a week, and not very often it's one phone call, it's many. It appears in this case it will be many.”

Spezza requested a trade from the Senators shortly after Ottawa missed the playoffs for only the third time in his 11 seasons. Spezza finished the 2013-14' season with 23 goals and 66 points in 75 games. The 31-year-old is a four-time 30-goal scorer and has scored 70 or more points five times.

Murray spoke about how it is disappointing when you can’t satisfy your current players considering the Senators drafted Spezza with the second pick in the 2001 NHL Draft.

The NHL Draft on June 27-28 in Philadelphia, and it wouldn't be shocking to see a deal involving Spezza before that time.
