Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback Tony Romo is still nursing a back injury, but that didn't stop him from attempting to grab a few reps at practice and gaining a few more fans along the way. Romo snuck into practice by wearing Caleb Hanie's jersey and got to the huddle before being removed by Jason Garrett.

Romo spoke about trying to get on the field prematurely and the status of his back after the Cowboy practice.

"I almost snuck in. I feel pretty good. I could go. I was going to take some seven-on-seven reps but I don’t know how much that really helps, just to get those three or four reps today.

We’re at this point now and I understand, we’re being smart with it."

Newly acquired quarterback Brandon Weeden got a good laugh out of the stunt at practice and spoke the media about it.

"He said it was a little too snug because he wears an offensive lineman jersey. It didn’t fit, so he threw Caleb’s on, hid the number and all of that, called the first play in the huddle and Coach Garrett said, ‘Not a chance.’"

Romo is recovering from back surgery he had in December and said if he had to play today he could, but the team wants to ease him back into the fray. Romo is expected to be ready for training camp and will be the Cowboys’ starting quarterback when the season starts come September.
