New Orleans Saints “offensive weapon” Jimmy Graham fights on for the right to be franchise tagged as a wide receiver as opposed to a tight end. The NFL is building its case and something Graham has done on social media may cost him the extra $5 million dollars he is seeking.
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that the NFL is building it’s case against Graham and will use his Twitter bio against him. In his bio, Graham refers to himself as “New Orleans Saints Tight End #80. Private Pilot” thus referring to himself as the position he claims he isn't.
Graham and the NFLPA believe that he should be labeled a wide receiver considering he lines up as one for 67 percent of the Saints' offensive plays. If Graham is successful in his claim for more money, he will be payed $12.3 million instead of $7.035 million.
As Rapoport reports, the two sides are not expected to settle before they have their day in court, which would make Graham the first plater to make it to the courts without a settlement being reached.
