In light of the Los Angeles Clippers selling for a whopping $2 billion, Brooklyn Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov is listening to potential offers and may be attempting to sell the team . Prokhorov has since denied rumors of him selling the team, but all possibilities are not off the table.

Although Prokhorov spoke about the team's availability, earlier reports were that he was listening to offers since the Clippers sold for much more than anticipated.

"We have no interest in selling the team," Prokhorov said through his spokesperson on Saturday.

Regardless of what Prokhorov says about the availability of the Nets, he has to be interested in gauging interest of investing parties around the league. Prokhorov bough the Nets for $223 million and owns 80 percent of the team as well as 45 percent of the Barclays Center.

Prokhorov being the aggressive businessman he is, it isn't a crazy idea to think that he would sell the team if the deal were to rival that of the Los Angeles Clippers deal. Prokhorov’s thinking has to be that the Clippers are considered the second tier franchise in Los Angeles by all accounts and the Nets could be considered the same in New York.

If the Nets generate interest from some eager investors it would not shock anyone to see Prokhorov cut his loses and sell the team for massive profit.
