What: The 114th Men’s U.S. Open (Round 3)
When: Saturday June 14
Where: Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina
The 144th U.S. Open continues Friday and will run throughout the weekend until a champion is crowned. Justin Rose took home the title last year and opens up this years open at 28-1 odds to take home a second. Other players looking to take the title away from Rose are the usually suspects when it comes to majors.
Before the first round of the U.S. Open, Martin Kaymer said he believes 8-over par would win the tournament and shooting 65 wasn't possible. After two days at Pinehurst Kaymer has shot 65 twice and leads the pack at 10-under.
"I played very well, I've had some good rounds in the past as well," said Kaymer, who was ranked No. 1 in the world in 2011. "But yesterday and today, especially today, the way I worked my way around the course ... I hit some smart shots. I didn't play too aggressive, and when I had a good number, I went for the flag and I didn't make many mistakes on the greens. I didn't 3-putt and made a lot of good putts."
