The ongoing and seemingly never-ending negotiations between Steve "Sting" Borden and the WWE may soon be coming to a close as despite reports that Sting hasn't signed a deal yet, it appears as though the sides are closing in on inking an official deal.

WWE To Renew CM Punk's Contract In July?

It had been reported that the WWE offered Sting a standard legends deal, but according to Wrestlingheadlines.com, there are more to the negotiations then just the legends deal. Sting signing with the WWE has been a long, drawn out process and while no deal is officially in place multiple sources maintain that the two sides are close to finalizing a deal and a contract is inevitable.

The WWE recently was reportedly angered over the fact that an agency associated with the company recently sent out a casting call for a Sting body double and an orchestra to wear his face paint for an upcoming DVD project. The company was upset at the leak because it still hasn't officially signed Sting to a deal.

Ultimate Warrior's Friend To Receive WWE Tryout

The former WCW and TNA icon has never been a part of the WWE and company CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon has always wanted to sign him but he's been elusive despite the sides being close to a deal a few years back.

It was rumored that Sting would battle The Undertaker on April 6 at WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans, but the company dragged its feet in signing Sting and didn't see it as a "high priority." The organization went with Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar instead, and Lesnar subsequently was booked to end The Streak.

Now, the WWE is hoping to sign Sting and it is the former WCW and TNA Champion that is dragging his feet in signing. It was reported that he has had the contract in his possession but is yet to sign the deal.

There were reports that Sting may face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 31 in the Bay Area, but with 'Taker's status in question after he lost The Streak and got injured at the event that may not happen since 'Taker may retire.

In the past, the WWE at least had interest in bringing Sting in for one match at WrestleMania due to his California ties, and it would have included a Hall of Fame induction for him.

It appears as though Sting and the WWE could be closing in on a pact, though it still isn't a done deal after months of negotiations.
