Newly acquired Cleveland Browns running back Ben Tate is projected to be the teams starter come Wee 1, but making it to that point could the challenge. Reports out of Browns’ camp is that Tate is getting a little banged up in minicamp and has taken reps ‘when he can’.

Tate was signed away from the Houston Texans this offseason and will finally get a chance to flex his muscle as a starting running back. Tate has to fight off the injury bug and hold off rookie Terrance West in the process. The Browns aren’t concerned with Tate’s injury history and Tate isn't worried about West as of yet.

"Honestly I'm not worried about that, because I know when I'm on my game -- no disrespect to any other running back here -- but there's no one that can touch me or that's close to what I do,'' he said. "I battled in and out every day with what some people consider the best running back in the league in Arian Foster. I've seen the best. I went against him every day. I battled it, so this around here to me is really not anything."

Tate is entering the first year of a two-year contract with the Browns and his fourth season in the NFL out of Auburn. Tate saw a solid sample of reps in 2013 as he started seven games in relief of the injured Arian Foster. In seven starts and 14 games played, Tate ran for 771 yards on 181 carries with four touchdowns.

Tate will get his chance to show he can be a legitimate starting running back in the NFL and will have a workhorse of a backup in West who could compliment Tate’s game greatly in the zone blocking scheme.
