Newly acquired 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin told ESPN.com Wednesday that he is looking forward to playing alongside quarterback Colin Kaepernick. "I'm excited to get to work with him," Boldin told ESPN on Wednesday. "A special kid, smart guy, very athletic. For me, hopefully, I can help him grow as a quarterback."

Boldin reached out to Kaepernick to get a feel for the 49ers' quarterback when he found out he was heading to the Bay Area after being traded away from the super bowl champion Baltimore Ravens last week. The two have spoken several times since then as the veteran Boldin doesn't want anything preventing him from settling in quickly and getting on the same page with the young quarterback.

"That's very important for a quarterback and receiver ... it doesn't just happen overnight," Boldin said. "Whenever you see a quarterback and receiver on the same page, that means they've spent time together."

The 32-year-old Boldin recorded 65 catches for 921 yards and four tocuhdowns for the Ravens last season. Boldin's impressive performance of 104 yards and a touchdown were instrumental in his former team's super bowl victory over his new squad.
